Home/ Smart AV Solutions/ Networks and WiFi

Networks and WiFi.

Structured cabling, managed switching and WiFi designed for the load the house will carry, not assembled from whatever the internet provider left behind. Every other system runs on it.

A conditioned equipment closet seen through its door, with a floor standing rack, patch panel and combed cabling

The problem

The internet is fine on the phone and nothing else in the house works.

A router in a closet was never designed to carry a house of cameras, streaming, control processors and a family. It runs out of ports, out of coverage and out of throughput, and the symptom shows up as the music dropping or a camera going gray rather than as a network fault. We survey the house, run structured cabling to every device, and put the network on managed switching so each system runs on its own segment and can be monitored.

A network that holds under full load.

The network is built for the number of devices the house will actually carry, then proven under load. Network health monitoring comes with Silver, Gold and Diamond care plans.

Plan your project
A study with ochre lacquered bookshelves at dusk, a laptop open on a walnut desk beside a lit desk lamp, and palms through the open French doors

Where the signal actually lands.

The same house two ways: the provider's router in a closet, and access points wired back to the rack.

Illustrative plan.

The provider's router in a closet. Coverage falls away with every block wall, and the far bedrooms, the primary suite and the lanai drop out.

Access points in the ceilings, each on its own cable back to the rack, placed against the building rather than spaced evenly on the plan. Concrete block and the pool cage decide where they go, and the lanai gets its own.

Cabling, switching and access points

Structured cabling

A documented path back to the rack for every device on the drawing, patched and labeled at both ends rather than chained from one device to the next to save cable.

Run during construction, because it cannot be added afterwards.

Managed switching

Netgear AV managed switching sized for the real device count, with VLANs (separate virtual networks) for control, cameras, work and the family so one busy system cannot take the others down.

Sized against the device schedule, not against a room count.

Access points

Placement surveyed against the building, not spaced evenly on a plan. Concrete, foil backed insulation and a pool cage all decide where coverage actually lands.

Surveyed in the building, then proven under load.

Common questions

Sometimes. Better switching and properly placed access points fix a lot without opening walls. Where a device needs a wired path that does not exist, we say so rather than hiding it behind a wireless link that will not hold up under load.

Yes. The provider brings the connection to the building. Everything on the house side of that is designed, installed and supported by us.

No. CITE Electric is an unlimited electrical contractor under the same ownership, so the circuits, the panel and the devices they feed are ours, and so is the programming. There is no handover between two firms and no argument about whose side a fault sits on.

A Bronze care plan comes with the system, covering seasonal startups and shutdowns, twice-yearly maintenance visits and technical support. Silver, Gold and Diamond add after hours support, more service hours, faster scheduling and network health monitoring.
